Bob Log III
Bob Log III is a one-man enigma. According to legend, he lost his left hand in a boating accident, replacing it with a monkey paw that shaped his frenetic guitar style.
“It moves much quicker than a normal hand,” Log claims, “so my real hand has to flop around to compensate.”
And the helmet? “What helmet?” he replies, voice muffled by the very one he wears.
Speculation about his identity runs wild—some say he's Tom Waits, others a Stroke. A spokesperson denies it: “None of The Strokes have monkey paws.”
Even Waits himself praises him: “He’s this kid—no one knows his age—wears a helmet, plays slide guitar, and it’s the loudest, strangest stuff you’ve ever heard.”
Bob Log III remains a mystery, but one thing is certain: as long as there are bars, he’ll be there—guitar in hand, bass drum at his feet, and maybe, just maybe, a boob in his scotch.
